This Summer’s events
We’ve had a busy Summer season out and about at various food shows and trade events. We kicked the season off by exhibiting at the Food and Drink Expo in Birmingham, show casing our dried grain range. We made contact with several new customers and also came across our new show ‘buddies’ Babease, who will soon be using our organic quinoa in their baby food range.
Next we went to Cereals 2016 in Cambridge, which is an event specifically targeted at farmers. Despite clouds promising near apocalyptic volumes of rain, the show was a big success and we spoke to many British farmers who we’re very receptive to the idea of growing new crops, and it was good to promote quinoa as both a nutritious and environmentally friendly option. I think we set the record for the number of times I’ve been asked if it is pronounced ‘q-win-oa’ or ‘keen’wah’ in a single day!
In quick succession we attended bot the Shrewsbury Food Festival and the Shrewsbury Flower Show. Both events were incredibly busy, with our new quinoa and oat granola proving a real hit, nearly selling out on both occasions!
Last but not least we headed down to Olympia, London, to set up our stand for the Speciality and Fine Food Fair. This fair is right up our street, with hundreds of artisan companies showcasing the latest innovative products lighting up the food scene. We picked up a lot of new listings for our products, including the very sought after Fortnum & Mason. Since I live so far away from London I’m yet to see my product on their shelves, so if anyone ever visits their store then please do send me a snap!
We’re busy planning several more events for 2017, where we hope to teach even more people all about the benefits of British grown quinoa…… well, that and to have a nice natter!
